    Healthy Banana Apple Bread

A healthy Banana Apple Bread recipe that is loaded with bananas, apples, and greek yogurt. It's my go to recipe for a healthy cake.

This holiday season, I am all about healthier sweets and good-for-you feel good recipes.

I've perfected the banana bread. No, seriously, I have.

It's healthier than your traditional version, but not obviously so. It's easy to make in just one bowl. And it comes out perfect EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

This healthy banana apple bread is my go-to recipe for something sweet and indulgent tasting, but hits all the marks for a healthier snack. It's not something that derails a clean diet day, but it tastes like it does. I think a lot of healthier baking recipes claim to taste like their unhealthy cousins, but few actually fit the bill. This one, I promise, does.

I make this recipe about once a week, and keep it on the counter for a few days to graze on. It's baby and kid tested, too. 😉

    Healthy Banana Apple Bread

This post has everything you need to make this healthy apple banana bread, along with troubleshooting and variation ideas.

Ingredients for Healthy Banana Apple Bread

    • Butter
    • Brown sugar
    • Cane sugar
    • Bananas
    • Apple, favorite variety (I like to use Honeycrisp)
    • Eggs
    • Apple sauce
    • Greek yogurt
    • Vanilla
    • Flour
    • Baking soda
    • Salt
    • Pumpkin pie spice

To Make Healthy Banana Apple Bread

    1. Preheat oven to 350.
    2. In a bowl, cream melted butter and sugars together.
    3. Add in eggs and mix. Add in one of the bananas and mash it with a fork. It doesn't have to be completely pureed. A little bit of chunks are find and will add to the moisture of the bake. You can do this in a separate bowl, or just add it in to the mix. I usually just add in to the mix. Less bowls = less cleanup. 😉
    4. Next add apple sauce, greek yogurt, maple syrup, and vanilla and mix just until incorporated.
    5. Peel and chop apple into small cubes and add to the batter.
    6. Mix in the dry ingredients.
    7. Pour batter into an oven safe loaf pan and top with sliced banana and then top with streusel. (press the banana into the batter a little bit so it's not just floating on top. Add the streusel after the banana)
    8. Bake for about 1 hour or until you a fork comes out mostly clean.
    9. Enjoy.

Slice your second banana into 3 slivers, like so:

    To Make Streusel

Mix 2 tablespoons of softened butter with ¼ cup flour and 3 tablespoons of cane sugar with your fingers until it resembles a course meal. You don't want the butter to get completely incorporated because then it won't have that streusel texture, it will lay flat.

I'm going to be eating this for dayssss. And then I'll turn around and make it again. It really is one of my all-time favorite recipes I've created.
